Lochousice combines a clearly recognizable village center with a rural settlement history and a flat to gently sloping landscape. In the center of the village square stand a large brick-built chapel and two ponds on the Touškovský potok; historic farmsteads and barns shape the townscape all around.
Culture and History
The large brick-built Chapel of St. Florian stands in the center of the village square and dates from 1847. Its structure consists of a rectangular nave and a projecting two-story tower. The Chapel of St. Florian and the enclosed grounds are protected.
The history of Lochousice goes back significantly further: the settlement area was already inhabited in prehistoric times, as evidenced by numerous archaeological finds. Lochousice is first mentioned in 1186. Historically, the village was owned by Kladruby Monastery.
Village Structure
Lochousice village square is lined with numerous brick-built farmsteads in the late Neoclassical style. To this day, many of these farmsteads largely retain gateways, brick-built granaries, or elaborately decorated façades on the residential buildings. Barns line the outer edge of the village and stand at the back of the farmyards, away from the other buildings.
Landscape and Location
Lochousice lies 6.5 km northwest of Stod in flat to gently sloping terrain. The Touškovský potok flows through the village. Two ponds are located directly on the village square along the Touškovský potok.
Sports and Events
The Jezdecký spolek Lochousice is dedicated to recreational and competitive equestrian sports and also welcomes new people interested in the sport. The “Hubertova jízda” takes place in Lochousice nearly every year.
The Lochousice multipurpose sports field was created in 2023 through the reconstruction of a former tennis court and is intended to serve the general public for sports and recreation. It is locked most of the time; borrowing the keys must be arranged in advance by phone or in person.
