Culture
The Velečín reconciliation cross is a monolithic sandstone slab with a faintly visible relief of a cross with crutch-shaped ends on both sides. It is one of the protected immovable cultural monuments. The niche chapel in Velečín is also one of the protected immovable cultural monuments.
The “Věž” exhibition in Velečín was scheduled to open on June 28, 2025, with a tour of the church tower led by the author. Hasičské závody were held in Velečín on May 24, 2014, May 4, 2013, and May 22, 2010.
History
The protected Church of St. John the Baptist complex in Ostrovec comprises the church, a mortuary, a tombstone, and an enclosing wall. The Church of St. John the Baptist in Ostrovec stands approximately in the middle of a slightly sloping, roughly circular village green; a low wall bounds the area of the former cemetery.
A parish and a church dedicated to St. John already stood in Ostrovec in the 14th century. Count Czernin converted the church in Ostrovec from the Gothic to the Baroque style in 1757. Restoration of the protected Church of St. John the Baptist in Ostrovec began in 2006. A small brick niche chapel was built next to the church in the 19th century.
