Babylon: Hotels and Accommodation

Babylon is home to Babylonský rybník, a natural outdoor swimming pool with a sandy bottom. The bathing area at Babylon has a shallow entry into the water. At the same time, the water in Rybník Babylon does not meet hygiene requirements. Swimming and water sports are particularly not recommended for children, pregnant women, allergy sufferers, and people with weakened immune systems.

Nature

At the edge of the forest near Babylon is Čertův kámen, a rocking stone weighing about 40 tonnes and measuring approximately 4 metres in length. Visitors can make Čertův kámen rock again.

The Čertova naučná stezka runs through the surroundings of Babylon and is 11 km long. Sokolova vyhlídka can be reached from Babylon via the green-marked hiking trail.

Paths

From Babylon, an asphalted shared path leads along the road to Domažlice to Újezd-Havlovice railway station; it is suitable for pedestrians, cyclists, inline skaters, and cross-country skiers.

Park and Culture

The Lázeňský krajinářský park has an accessible educational trail, includes a children's playground, and features a nature labyrinth. The Léto Babylon cultural festival takes place every year on the first Saturday of the summer holidays.

History

Babylon was first mentioned in writing in 1587. Babylon originated as a logging settlement on Pařezov Pond, which was later renamed Babylonský. In 1928, Babylon was included in the official list of spa resorts.
