Nová Ves U Kdyně: Hotels and Accommodation

Nová Ves u Kdyně lies in a valley surrounded by the wooded hills of Čepice and Ráj and the highest mountain, Bezný, at 658.9 m above sea level. The Novoveský stream flows through Nová Ves. From the slopes above the village, there are views across the hilly landscape of the Czech borderland and German Bavaria as far as the Hohenbogen.

Nature

The important European watershed between the drainage basins of the Black Sea and the North Sea runs along the northern boundary of the Nová Ves municipal area. Despite private ownership, the Kaskádové rybníky ponds in Nová Ves u Kdyně are freely accessible. The Kaskádové rybníky are considered a habitat for amphibians and waterfowl.

Culture and History

Nová Ves was founded after the Hussite Wars by the owners of the nearby Rýzmberk Castle. The first written mention of the village dates from 1508.

The Kdyňskem educational trail near Nová Ves is 13 kilometers long in total and has 13 stations. Its first station is a viewpoint above Nová Ves. Information panels about local history and image-based tasks for children are part of the trail.

The Vachatova lookout tower near Nová Ves is six meters high and has 22 ladder-like steps. In clear weather, the lookout tower offers views of the Šumava and the Hohenbogen. The recommended hiking stage from Kdyně to Nýrsko passes the Vachatovo lookout tower near Nová Ves.

Ráj summit is located about two kilometers from Nová Ves and can be reached via the Way of Saint James.
