Loučim: Hotels and Accommodation

Loučim’s oldest historic monument is the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. In the 14th century, it became an important pilgrimage site in the Pošumaví region. In front of the church stands a sandstone statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from 1818. A projecting tower, probably dating from the early 16th century, is attached to the front of the church. The statue is surrounded by four mighty lime trees that are nearly 200 years old and protected as historic monuments.

Culture and History

The historic buildings in Loučim also include House No. 3. It is a partially timber-framed, three-part dwelling of the stable type; the building may date from no later than the first third to the middle of the 19th century. The Jewish cemetery in Loučim is an immovable cultural monument.

Trails

The Loučim educational trail is a circular route that leads through the forests north of the municipality and returns to Loučim. It has eight stations with texts in Czech and German and provides information about the local nature and history, Jewish culture, and ecology.

The Stezka zpomalení is a German-Czech thematic trail with spiritual reflections, as well as a cross-border hiking and cycling route from Neukirchen beim Heiligen Blut to Loučim, supplemented by additional circular routes. When it opened, 50 cyclists from Bavaria travelled to the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Loučim.

An autumn Marian pilgrimage takes place in Loučim on the Sunday after September 8. On Easter Monday, there is a second, so-called spring pilgrimage.

The Stangenruck and Úliště [Javor - Loučany] mountains are located in the vicinity of Loučim. The Běleč and Lovečná mountains are located in the wider regional surroundings of Loučim.
