Horní Kamenice: Hotels and Accommodation

Horní Kamenice extends across both slopes of the valley of the Srbický potok and lies on the edge of the extensive Vytůň forest area.

History

Archaeological finds in the vicinity of Horní Kamenice indicate relatively permanent settlement from the Middle Bronze Age to the end of the Early Iron Age. Behind Horní Kamenice, in a forest in the direction of Mytě, there is a Bronze Age burial mound field.

The Gothic ruins of Lacembok Castle are located in the cadastral area of Horní Kamenice. The fortifications and basic structure of the castle remain clearly preserved there to this day; an information board is located on the upper plateau of the site.

The Hornokamenická Fortress, which is connected with the Panský dvůr, originated in the 13th century.

Culture

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk was built in 1902 after the older chapel burned down. It forms part of the pilgrimage celebrations “Slavnost kaple svatého Jana Nepomuckého”, which include a Mass.

Horní Kamenice has preserved its typical village character, with gabled roofs and vernacular-classicist façades on most houses. So-called gates have also been preserved on houses No. 3 and No. 5.

Activities

The educational and hiking trail “Naučná stezka Po stopách Jiráskovy Lucerny” runs through the cadastral area of Horní Kamenice.

The cycling tour “Na kole na koláč” follows forest paths to Krchleby for the regional speciality Krchlebský koláč. It takes place in early October as the finale of the cycling season.

Horní Kamenice Park lies at the foot of the hill in the direction of Vejpich and includes a municipal well. In Horní Kamenice, the Masopust procession always takes place on the Saturday before Shrove Tuesday. The event “Sjezd na čemkoliv” starts in Vejpich and ends at the park.
