Žákava: Hotels and Accommodation
Žákava is located in a valley between the Úslava River and the Bradava stream. The surrounding landscape is shaped by Radyně Mountain and Nad Moráskem Mountain. The nearby area also includes Kamensko Hill [Blovice-Štítov] and Mariina skála Hill [Milínov u Nezvěstic].
History
Žákava was the original seat of the knights Žákavci ze Žákavé. The Žákavci's castle fortress stood on a rocky elevation at the site of today's house numbers 1 and 49. A historic estate stood on a slope above the Úslava and was later converted into a granary. The historic granary still stands in Žákava today.
Culture and the Past
The Church of St. Lawrence in Žákava dates from the 14th century, has Gothic origins, and was later modified in the Renaissance and Baroque styles. The Žákava-Sváreč barrow field is one of the largest barrow fields in West Bohemia.
The Church Plzen Barholomaeus Cathedral and the Church Svatý Martin are located in the wider regional surroundings of Žákava.
Cycle Path and Community Life
The Žákava cycle path is part of the CT 31 long-distance cycle route. The Žákava municipal library is open to the public twice a month.
