The earliest documented mention of Hněvnice dates back to 1115.
History
With several interruptions, Hněvnice remained connected with the Benedictine monks of Kladruby until the monastery was dissolved in 1785. The Baroque Church of All Saints (Všech Svatých) in Hněvnice was built in 1737 at the expense of the monastery under Abbot Josef Sieber by an unknown architect; it was demolished by an explosion in 1969.
Landscape
Behind Hněvnice, along the road to Lhota, there is another chapel nestled in the picturesque landscape. A chapel in the direction of Heřmanova Huť has survived to this day and was reconstructed in 2006. This chapel has a seating area with expansive views of the surrounding area.
Memorials and Customs
Hněvnice is one of the places where small chapels were built in the 18th century. There are three small crosses in Hněvnice and its surroundings; these were also restored. In addition, the chapel was saved in 2004 and became a frequent destination for local residents’ walks.
A traditional masked procession for Carnival was announced for Hněvnice in 2024.
