Vysoká Libyně lies on the eastern, gently sloping side of a hilly ridge running from east to west within the Rakovnická pahorkatina. The ridge, connected with Džbán and Bukovec, reaches elevations of 588 and 589 meters above sea level at the respective high points.

History and Architectural Heritage

The historic center of Vysoká Libyně has been documented since 1337. The Church of Saint Blaise has stood in Vysoká Libyně since the Middle Ages, or since the second half of the 14th century; a clerical administration was established there.

The Church of Saint Blaise is originally a Gothic building dating from around the middle of the 14th century. Preserved elements include medieval masonry in the nave and presbytery, a Gothic triumphal arch, a vault, pointed-arch windows in the presbytery, and a southern portal of the nave. A tower and a sacristy with an oratory may have been added to the church in the second half of the 18th century.
