Horní Bělá combines an approximately 15.5-kilometre educational and experience trail with historical sites, distinctive rock formations and named landscape features in the immediate and wider surrounding area.

Nature and Trails

The Stezka Hornobělskem educational and experience trail is approximately 15.5 km long. The trail can be travelled by bicycle or kick scooter and has 13 stations with information boards and interactive elements.

Hornobělská 30 is a traditional hiking march held regularly on the third Saturday in February. The Hornobělská 30 offers 10, 20 and 30 km routes through the landscape around Horní Bělá.

Černý rybník, also known as Porajt, is fed by an inflow from Hatě, waterlogged meadows and forest bogs. The pond has presumably been used for recreational purposes for more than 100 years.

History and Culture

The Vrtba castle site in Horní Bělá is classified as an important archaeological site. Hrad Vrtba was one of the noble castles built around the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. At Hrad Vrtba, remains of the perimeter fortifications and a pond complex with a mill have been preserved.

The Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk is designated as a cultural monument. Kaplička Zvěstování Panny Marie was built in the Baroque style in 1736 and is a border chapel between Horní Bělá and Dolní Bělá.

The installation at Výhledové místo u sv. Martina consists of a large central stone with three cosmograms carved by Jan Tajboš. According to geomants, the formation at Výhledové místo u sv. Martina is dedicated to the plant world.

The Megalitický kamenný kruh Horní Bělá is located on a hill above Horní Bělá and is enclosed by 21 large menhirs. The Hornobělské kamenné spirály are stone geopuncture rows created by geomants.

Events

Memoriál Františka Hebedy is an annual forest and tracking test for small-breed dogs. The first edition took place in October 1984; the event has been held without interruption ever since.
