Manetin: Hotels and Accommodation
The Manětín urban conservation area was designated in 1992 and comprises 25 monuments.
Culture
The sculpture group of the Holy Trinity from 1719 characterizes Manětín’s main square. A sandstone copy now stands there, created by the academic sculptor Jiří Novák between 1998 and 2000. Vysoká cesta connected Manětín with the settlement near St. Barbara’s Church and was furnished between 1728 and 1734 with 14 larger-than-life statues of saints from the workshop of the sculptor Josef Herscher.
The existence of the Church of St. John the Baptist in Manětín has been documented since 1182; its present appearance was created through a reconstruction carried out between 1711 and 1717. Remains of the walls of the chancel with the tower survive from the original Gothic church, while the interior is predominantly Baroque. In addition, an ensemble of more than 30 Baroque statues and sculpture groups has been preserved in Manětín.
The orangery of Manětín Castle preserves parts of the original wooden structure and glazed wall, a brick aviary, and remains of 18th-century Baroque wall paintings. Based on the investigations, it was decided to restore the orangery to a form approximating its Baroque appearance.
Landscape
Chlumská hora, Doubravický vrch, also known as Kozelka, and Zbraslavský vrch rise from the Manětín Basin. The Lomské vrchoviny forest complex lies south of Manětín.
The Manětín castle grounds include a French garden and an English park. The English landscape park at Manětín Castle was established south of the Manětínský potok at the beginning of the 19th century. It includes a pond with its own inflow, a hermitage, and a pavilion on an artificial hill.
Things to do
The 37-kilometre “Baroko II” cycling route passes through Manětín. The 58-kilometre “Along the Ridge of Chlumská hora to Třebouňský vrch” cycling route starts and ends in Manětín.
