Kunějovice: Hotels and Accommodation

Kunějovice combines a history documented since the Middle Ages with a predominantly agricultural landscape and signposted trails through the municipality.

History and Architectural Heritage

Kunějovice has been documented since 1269, when Miloslav of Kunějovice was mentioned in a written record. Historical buildings include the “old” Kunějovice Castle, built in the 1690s. The former school at Kunějovice No. 28 is now used as the municipal office and is protected as an immovable cultural monument under registration number 106087. The local architectural character is complemented by the Chapel of St. Anne, which was consecrated on 25 July 1937.

In the neighboring municipality of Nekmíř, Nekmíř Castle was built as a fortress in the 14th century. It was later converted into a chateau; today, it is designated as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. Its current condition is considered critical.

Landscape and Surroundings

The Nekmířský stream flows through the Kunějovice area. The landscape is predominantly agricultural: arable land accounts for 70 percent of the area, while forests occur along the edge of the municipality. Kunějovice-jih is designated as a notable viewpoint in the landscape.

The Hracholusky Reservoir is located in the vicinity of Kunějovice and is mentioned as a bathing site.

Trails and Accessibility

The 60-kilometer “Plaské údolí” cycle route runs through Kunějovice, connecting Dvůr Slatina and Lhotka. In addition, a blue-marked hiking trail runs from the southern edge of the area via road III/2046 into the municipality of Kunějovice. From there, it heads north into a forest complex, where it leaves the area. Kunějovice is currently accessible by bus.
