Lužany U Přeštic: Hotels and Accommodation

The chapel at Lužany Castle also bears the hallmark of Josef Hlávka. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary, Saint Wenceslas and Saint Anthony is dedicated to these three saints. It was built in Josef Hlávka’s characteristic style with Byzantine elements; the interior paintings were created by the Viennese painter Karl Jobst.

For the consecration of the chapel at Lužany Castle, Josef Hlávka commissioned Antonín Dvořák’s Mass in D major, Lužanská, Op. 86, in 1887. Lužany Castle is not intended for visits by the general public. Access for specialists is possible only by exception, by arrangement with the president and the board of trustees of the foundation.

The “Living Memories of the Lužany Landscape” educational trail was ceremonially opened in Lužany on March 22, 2015, and comprises eight stations.

Mount Běleč is located in the vicinity of Lužany. The nearby area also includes Lužanská hora hill [Lužany - Zelené] and Březník hill [Příchovice u Přeštic]. Mount Radyně lies in the wider regional area.

The Lužany protected area safeguards a preserved remnant of the meandering riverbed of the Úhlava.
