Koryta: Hotels and accommodation

Koryta lies on the right bank of the lower reaches of the Střela. The history of the settlement dates back to 1175 and connects the village with Plasy Monastery.

History and culture

Koryta was founded in 1175, when Prince Soběslav II donated the village, together with Obora and Babina, to Plasy Monastery. A major fire largely destroyed Koryta on 6 June 1881; the village’s farmsteads were rebuilt on the foundations of the former buildings.

The memorial to those who fell in the First World War was erected by the local theatre association Tyl, which existed at the time. A chapel built in 1905 stands on the southeast side of Koryta’s village square. The Hradiště near Koryta is protected as a cultural monument.

Koryta Cemetery lies northeast of the village on the road towards Dolní Hradiště and is maintained and still in use. The Church of St Martin is located in the vicinity of Koryta. The Týřov ruins lie in the wider regional surroundings of Koryta. Also in this wider regional area are the Cathedral of St Bartholomew in Plzeň and the U Svatého Petra church.

Landscape along the Střela

The Kaňon Střely site of European importance extends along the lower reaches of the Střela from Nebřeziny near Plasy to Dolní Hradiště, close to its confluence with the Berounka.

Mount Berdovna is located in the vicinity of Koryta. The nearby surroundings also include Střední vrch hill [Koryta], U Prokopa hill [Jarov], and Lazy hill [Plasy-Babina].

Paths and transport

The Baroko III cycle route passes through Koryta. A yellow-marked hiking trail also runs through the village. Public bus services from Koryta operate only on weekdays; at weekends, there is no public transport connection to Koryta.
