Líté: Hotels and accommodations

Líté is situated in a small hollow crossed by a stream and surrounded by forests. The Manětínsko Nature Park extends to the western edge of Líté.

Nature

Overgrown spoil heaps are a reminder of Líté’s former vitriol and kaolin industry. Zelené jezírko is a local biocentre in the cadastral areas of Líté and Dolní Bělá and is considered a unique geological natural site. It has also been proposed that it be designated a protected natural monument and that the former tourist access route be restored.

History

Líté was first mentioned in writing in 1175. In a deed of donation from that year, Prince Soběslav transferred an area containing the villages of Líté and Lomnička to Plasy Monastery.

Historically, Líté was connected with Bělá Castle for several centuries and was also owned by the Lažanský family. After a kaolin deposit was discovered west of Líté, the new estate owner Sigfried Klein and his business partner built a kaolin processing plant near the road to Spankov. A vitriol works was part of Líté’s industrial history and was incorporated into the J. Starck companies in the second half of the 19th century.

Culture and activities

The amateur theatre group Úžas Líté was founded in 1981 and is part of the amateur theatre scene in the northern Plzeň region. ÚŽAS organizes the annual dance evening “Josefovský jarní vínek” and a traditional carnival procession through Líté.

ÚŽAS also organizes a motor tourism competition aimed particularly at parents and children. The playing time at the multi-purpose sports field in Líté can be booked in person or by telephone with the facility manager.
