Mutěnín: Hotels and Accommodation

Mutěnín combines sacred buildings, Jewish history, mountains in the surrounding area and a 31-kilometre cycling route to create a diverse local character.

Culture

The focal point is the Baroque Church of St Bartholomew, which was built in 1707 on the site of an older church. Its tower is 32 metres high and topped by a weather vane in the shape of a rooster. The stone-paved floor of the church contains an entrance to the former crypt of the Wiedersperger family.

The Jewish cemetery in Mutěnín was established on Ovčí vrch in 1642 and has been carefully restored. A total of 162 gravestones or fragments have been preserved; the oldest legible gravestones date from the mid-18th century.

The chapel dedicated to St Sebastian is a family crypt of the Wiedersperger family, built in 1852 on the site of an earlier wooden chapel. The Chapel of Mary, Queen of Heaven, on the road to Ostrov was built in 1887 and reconstructed in 1992. The statue of Our Lady of Sorrows was erected in 1720 and returned to its original location during renovations in 2016.

Cycling

Cycle Route 2281 is a 31-kilometre route that runs through Drahotín, Mutěnín and Hostouň.

Nature

The mountains Železný vrch, Reichenstein, Škarmanka and Jacklberg are located in the vicinity of Mutěnín.

Mutěnínský lom is a disused quartz diorite quarry in the Mutěnín Stock and an important documentation locality of the Domažlice Crystalline Complex. It is located on the road to Starý Kramolín, behind the pond in a field.
