Nezvěstice is situated at the confluence of three waterways and combines distinctive landscapes with cycling routes, historical traces, churches, and vibrant local traditions.

Landscape

Nezvěstice is situated at the confluence of the Úslava and Bradava rivers and the Střížovický potok stream. The hill of Varta, located above Nezvěstice, offers a broad view of the surrounding area. The nearby hill and viewpoint “Mariina skála [Milínov u Nezvěstic]” and Kamensko Hill [Blovice-Štítov] are also worth noting. Radyně Mountain is located in the vicinity of Nezvěstice, while Nad Moráskem Mountain lies in the wider regional area.

Cycling and Connections

Long-distance cycle route 31 runs from Blovice and Žákava to Nezvěstice. It then continues from Plzeň via Starý Plzenec, Šťáhlavy, and Nezvěstice to Nepomuk. Local cycle route CT 2125 follows road III/1774 toward Želčany. Nezvěstice also has bus connections to the surrounding municipalities and to Plzeň.

Culture and History

Near Nezvěstice, at Pod Zámečkem, the partially visible earthen rampart of a former fortress has been preserved. The Church of All Saints in Nezvěstice dates from the first half of the 14th century and was remodeled in 1606–1607. Masses at the Church of All Saints in Nezvěstice are listed for the first Friday of each month at 2:30 p.m. and on Sundays in odd-numbered weeks at 8:00 a.m. In the wider regional area around Nezvěstice are the church “Plzen Barholomaeus Cathedral” and the church “Svatý Martin”.

Festivals and Traditions

The carnival procession in Nezvěstice was revived as a local tradition in 2007. Held every five years with the participation of the entire municipality, it continues to be a popular folk festival. Staročeské máje was celebrated again in Nezvěstice in 2008 and continues to be one of the largest cultural festivals there. Vynášení Zimy is a festive procession and a tradition in Nezvěstice welcoming the arrival of spring.
