Which places are worth visiting for art and history?
The Marold Panorama is located in the Výstaviště complex. The work is a panoramic painting of the Battle of Lipany, 11 metres high and 95 metres long. The Czech painter Luděk Marold created it between 1897 and 1898. Its large dimensions and historical subject make the panorama a cultural attraction in its own right for visitors who are interested in more than just traditional museum spaces in Prague.
Národnà muzeum – Lapidárium houses a specialised collection consisting predominantly of Czech stone sculptures. Its chronological scope extends from the early Middle Ages in the 11th century to the 19th century. For a trip with a cultural focus, this historical scope is an important point of reference, even though the current access situation must be considered separately.
Following its reconstruction, Holešovická Šachta offers three exhibition spaces with a total area of more than 350 m² for presenting art projects. The size of the building and its division into three rooms give the venue a clear focus on art projects. In addition, theatre performances, readings, lectures, concerts, workshops and film screenings take place there.
Holešovický Port is an important technical monument. It connects shipping with rail and road transport. The original buildings in Holešovický Port were constructed in the Art Nouveau style.
Which events should be included in your travel plans?
The KÅ™ižÃkova Fountain at VýstaviÅ¡tÄ› is currently used as a venue for short-term events. These include concerts, shows, theatre performances and gastronomic events. The programme is therefore not limited to a single art form.
What does Výstaviště offer for different interests?
Mořský svět on the Výstaviště grounds in Holešovice houses the largest exhibition of sea animals in the Czech Republic. The exhibition includes almost 150 animal species from Indonesia, Sri Lanka, South America and other countries.
Skateplaza Na Výstavišti is a 1,400 m² area for skateboarding and other roller sports. The skate plaza thus provides a sporting focus at Výstaviště.
