History
Drhovice is one of the older Czech settlements. The name Drhovice probably goes back to the founder Druh or his followers. The name of the local landowner Volkmar von Druhovice already appears in written records in 1219.
Part of the historic settlement of Drhovice belonged to the property of the monastery in Louňovice. Another part belonged to the property of the Lords of Rožmberk and was connected with Příběničky Castle. This estate probably gave rise to the village of Malé Drhovice, also known as Drhovičky, around 1459.
Culture
The Chapel of the Virgin Mary is located in Drhovice. The Chapel of the Name of the Virgin Mary is situated on the left side of the road from Drhovice to Padařov and is occasionally accessible. A Marian pilgrimage mass was held in this chapel on September 8, 2024, and another on September 14, 2025.
