Culture

The fortress of Lažany was converted into a château at the end of the 16th century and expanded in 1760 with a second Baroque wing.

Nature

The château park covers an estimated 2.5 hectares. Its present design follows the English landscape romanticism of the period after the middle of the 19th century.

Events

Regular annual events in Lažany include the burning of the witches (pálení čarodějnic) on April 30. A Nohejbal tournament is among the regular events held in June.

The most important event in Lažany is the Pouťový turnaj in small-sided football. It takes place on the first weekend of the school holidays and is contested for the mayor’s challenge cup. In addition, holiday events with competitions are held in Lažany, organized jointly with the owners of holiday homes.

A sports field for small-sided football, Nohejbal, and tennis has been established in Lažany.

Geographical location

Lažany consists of houses around the local château on the access road from Strakonice, as well as the “Sázky” district, approximately 250 meters away. Road bridge No. 1731-12 lies south of Lažany on the dam that divides the Kořenský pond, in the direction of Doubravice.
