Concrete roads, marked routes and historical traces run through Lužice. The RCH3 field road connects Netolice and Lužice via Horánek and offers cyclists and pedestrians a shortcut between the two places. The educational cycle route No. 1104, “Historická krajina Netolicka”, also runs through Lužice.
Paths and Routes
In the Netolice area, the “Historická krajina Netolicka” cycle route forms an approximately 50 km circular route with 16 marked stops and information boards in three languages. Here, it runs along paved roads through easy terrain and can be divided into several stages. On the listed hiking and cycling route, Lužice is 18.5 km from Netolice Square.
A blue-marked hiking trail also runs through Lužice from Netolice through the Blanský les to Kuklov and Kleť. The “Podhůřím Blanského lesa do Holašovic” cycling tour passes through Lužice as stop 14. Anyone choosing Lužice as a travel destination may be planning to book a hotel.
Nature
Borkoviště is a peat bog covering approximately 2 hectares in the Lužice forest near the cycle route. The historical manual extraction of peat at Borkoviště was called “borkování”. In the 18th and 19th centuries, peat was extracted there for heating and as bedding for livestock.
The area of Lužické letiště is considered a site where South Bohemian moldavites can be found. Lužické letiště is frequently used for model aircraft competitions.
Culture and History
A niche chapel stands beside the old road to Netolice. One of the routes of the old trade road, known as the Linecká, which connected Bohemia and the Austrian lands, probably ran along this road.
A wooden folk-style bell tower stands at the corner of the village square. Lužice is also home to folk-style agricultural farmsteads of the so-called longitudinal type. The gap left by the demolition of the large Hojdaroviny estate has been preserved on the village square. Rows of stone walls line the road.
Horse Riding
The Lužický dvůr equestrian centre offers riding lessons and trail rides. Trail rides at Lužický dvůr always take place under the supervision of an experienced instructor.
