Village Character and History

The brick buildings in Lutová date from around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Their simple, sparsely decorated appearance is connected with the rebuilding after the great fire of 1875. Three-part farmsteads with their gables facing the street are arranged around Lutová’s elongated village green. Lutová has been designated a village heritage zone since 1990.

The Church of All Saints in Lutová was founded by the Vítkovci in 1359. It was rebuilt in the late Renaissance style in 1615 and received its tower in 1875. The cemetery beside the church contains the remains of a Stations of the Cross dating from the second half of the 18th century. Lutová’s village green is also home to a mid-19th-century niche chapel dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk.

Landscape and Trails

Lutová lies in Zone III of the Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area and in the Třeboňsko Bird Area. The Mikuláš Ruthard educational trail runs from the dam of Hejtman Pond along the red-marked route, passing the Nový Hospodář and Starý Hospodář ponds on its way to Lutová. The trail is classified as an easy cycling educational trail with a length of 10 km.

The Mikuláš Ruthard educational trail showcases the natural wealth of the ponds and the old fruit varieties cultivated in the surroundings of Lutová. Cycling routes 1010, 1011 and 1035 meet on Lutová’s village green.
