Culture and History

An order founded Smetanova Lhota in the mid-13th century. The small cottager houses around the village green date from the first half of the 18th century.

The Výklenková kaple Biskupů is a wayside niche chapel that was probably built in the mid-19th century; it is located about 500 metres northeast of Smetanova Lhota on the road to Vrábsko. The Výklenková kaple Kocábů is also a wayside niche chapel and probably dates from the first half of the 19th century; it is located northeast of Smetanova Lhota at a bridge over the Skalice River.

Nature and Regional Context

In the vicinity of Smetanova Lhota, the village of Karlov lies to the southwest, with a hunting lodge and a naturally landscaped park in the Lomnice valley on the left bank of the river.

In the wider regional area, the Čimelicko-Rakovicko region has been designated a landscape heritage zone.

Trails and Events

Cycle Route 1158 runs through Smetanova Lhota. A blue-marked hiking trail also passes through the village.

The local volunteer fire brigade holds two open-air cultural evenings called “Večery na návsi” during the summer months. The club organizes the annual “Memoriál Vladislava Panýrka” football tournament.
