Sviny: Hotels and Accommodation

Sviny is home to the Chapel of Saint Adalbert, a protected cultural monument whose core is a late Baroque structure dating from the end of the 18th century. Its present appearance was created following an extension in 1896. The chapel is a free-standing, octagonal, masonry central building with a polygonal bell dome and a lantern. It consists of an entrance tower, a flat-roofed nave and a three-sided presbytery. Inside, there is a Baroque statue of Our Lady of Sorrows. Regular Masses have resumed; they take place every other Thursday.

Several imposing Blata farmsteads with richly decorated gables are associated with the tradition of Folk Baroque. The granary of house no. 7 is one of the individual listed monuments in Sviny. The historic municipal school building in Sviny was built in 1795. Between Sviny and Kundratice lies the Kerchůvek plague cemetery, which was restored in 2008 together with its chapel and upgraded for tourism. Keramika U Kočků decorates its ceramic products by hand using underglaze painting. The Sviny Municipal Library has more than 1,000 books of various types and genres.

Svinenská náves is large and spacious, with a circular layout. It is complemented by two ponds, as well as green areas with linden trees and birches. In the southern part of Svinenská náves, characterized by its linden trees, there is a monument to those who fell in the First World War.

In the wider surroundings of Sviny, the Borkovická blata Nature Reserve protects a transitional peat bog in a basin with remnants of peat pine forests, as well as characteristic flora and fauna. The approximately 900-hectare Borkovická Blata peatland lies between Sviny and the neighboring villages of Komárov, Klečaty, Zálší, Mažice, Borkovice, Žíšov and Zaluží. In the wider surroundings of Sviny, wetlands with protected plant and animal species and habitats of European importance are regenerating in the peat-extracted areas of Borkovická blata.

In the wider surroundings of Sviny, an educational trail leads through the peatland landscapes of the Borkovická blata Nature Reserve. The Greenway selského baroka cycling route passes through Sviny. A walk from Sviny leads along the dams of the Dorotka and Holý ponds. Recreational and sport fishing is possible at Cihelna Pond. Inline skaters can travel from Sviny towards Borkovice, Dolní Bukovsko and Veselí nad Lužnicí on well-maintained, less busy roads. The renovated multi-purpose sports complex in Sviny can serve visitors to the municipality and offer a broader range of physical activities.
