Nature and Routes
Mount Horní Háj lies on the north-eastern slope of Zubčice. It reaches 739 metres above sea level and is the highest point in the municipality. Cycle Route 1199 Práčov–Velešín runs through Zubčice. In Práčov, it connects to the Vltava Cycle Route from Šumava to Mělník, which forms part of the international EuroVelo 7 route.
Hiking and cycling trails around Zubčice offer views of the village on the opposite Svatý Ján nad Malší hill. The local trails also open up views of Včelíny, Kleť and the horizon of Blanský les.
Village Character and History
The first written mention of Zubčice dates from 1358 and is connected with the Lords of Pořešín. Zubčice preserves the structure of a village founded around a circular village green, whose layout remains recognisable to this day. A wooden bell tower stands on the village green.
Markvartice also has a preserved village character: the grass-covered village green is surrounded by lime trees and large farmsteads, indicating the original circular layout of the green.
In Markvartice stands a chapel of the Virgin Mary, built in 1873 and restored. It features a historicist style with Baroque and Neoclassical elements. House No. 12 in Zubčice is listed as a cultural monument.
Pflégrův mlýn is a large farmstead on the Zubčický stream. It was built in 1867 by the miller Jan Pfleger (1816–1889).
Sport and Evening Entertainment
Above the village, the tennis courts of TJ Zubčice form a fenced tennis facility with changing rooms and a technical building, serving mainly recreational sports. The Zubčická lavina restaurant hosts entertainment evenings with live music of various genres.
