Sirnin: Hotels and Accommodation
Srnín lies at the foot of Mount Kleť in the Blanský les Protected Landscape Area at an altitude of 540 metres above sea level. For your stay in Sirnin, you may want to find a hotel.
History
Srnín was established as part of the colonisation activities of Zlatá Koruna Monastery. The first written record of the village dates from 1400. In 1440, Srnín was mentioned as part of Rájov Rychta within the Zlatá Koruna estate. A memorial to the soldiers who fell in the First World War was unveiled on the village green in 1929.
The history of the village also includes two chapels. The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk was renovated several years ago; its construction is attributed to Martin Novotný. The first written record of this chapel in Srnín dates from 1837. The Chapel Na Vršku was also first mentioned in writing in 1837. The description from that time referred to it as a municipal masonry chapel containing a depiction of the Virgin Mary of Kájov. The painted depiction of the Virgin Mary of Kájov has not survived.
Nature
The Granátník educational trail is an 8.5-kilometre circular route that starts and ends in Srnín. Its nine information panels cover the local flora and fauna, geology, and the history of military fortifications. The trail includes wetlands with orchids.
On the eastern slope of Granátník Hill stands a 5-metre-high wooden lookout tower offering views of the picturesque Vltava Valley. The observation platform of the lookout tower on Granátník is freely accessible year-round.
Getting Around
The Srnčí Trail branches off from the Granátník educational trail towards Mount Kamýk and rejoins it. It offers interactive elements for children, including a memory game and animal pictures with QR codes. Using a mobile application, visitors can scan the QR codes on the animal pictures and listen to the sounds made by the animals.
The Vltava Trail 7, EV7 and Greenway RD continue through Srnín to Zlatá Koruna. The historic route from Srnín to Rájov was also used by various carts travelling towards České Budějovice.
