Šanov: Hotels and accommodation

The large educational trail loop through the Valley of Love is 5.4 km long and leads to the edge of the Karlov Nature Reserve.

Routes and cycling paths

The Mucha cycling path leads to historically, architecturally and ecologically interesting places in the cadastral area of Šanov and the surrounding area. It is connected to important regional cycling paths and routes and forms a 20 km loop.

Nature

The Karlov Nature Reserve preserves a remnant of natural oak forests and a hornbeam-maple forest surrounded by extensive black locust stands.

The Karlov educational trail is 4.3 km long and leads to the dam of Horní Karlov Pond, from which the landscape of the Příční potok valley and the water surfaces of both ponds can be observed. At the opposite end of the dam there is a hide that can be used for undisturbed observation of the animals living there.

Culture and history

Emin Château, originally called Emin Court, was built in 1882 by Eduard Khuen-Belassy for his wife, Emanuela Khuen-Belassy. The then young painter Alfons Mucha contributed to the decoration of some of the interior spaces of Emin Château.

Emin Château currently houses a social care facility and is therefore not open to the public.
