Nature
The Strabišov–Oulehla protected area covers the cadastral territory of Brankovice and is part of the Natura 2000 network. The protected area includes semi-natural dry grasslands and shrub communities on calcareous substrates. It is also home to oak-hornbeam forests of the Galio-Carpinetum association and Eurosiberian steppe oak forests.
Culture
One of Brankovice’s notable buildings is the Church of Saint Nicholas, which is registered as an immovable cultural monument. The new church was built in 1714 after the former Catholic church and rectory burned down completely in 1690.
Another combination of architecture and landscape is formed by the Chapel of Our Lady and the nearby Svatá studánka spring. Together, they form a single unit; the spring dates from the same period as the chapel. The Svatá studánka spring was attributed with miraculous properties, although it existed before the chapel was built. Along the “At the Border of Ždánský les and Chřiby” route, there are also notable monuments.
Traditions
The Brankovický kroj includes elements from Haná, Slovácko, and the Brno region. Work on this traditional costume began at the beginning of 2001 with the participation of the municipality. Expert consultations were held with the Slovácké muzeum and the Institute of Ethnography at Masaryk University in Brno.
The obecnĂ hody in Brankovice are a regularly recurring event. They have been held on the third Saturday of every August since 2001.
Transport and Everyday Life
Brankovice railway station is integrated into an integrated transport system. There is also a bus stop near the railway station.
The swimming pool at ZĹ a MĹ Brankovice has been back in operation since Friday, November 15, 2024. It is open to the public on Fridays from 4 to 8 p.m., except on public holidays and during school holidays; the last admission is at 7 p.m.
