History and Archaeology

The Zelená Hora archaeological area includes a 1.1-hectare prehistoric hillfort on a triangular promontory above the Pustiměřský potok stream. It was fortified with a rampart and a ditch. The Zelená Hora archaeological area is an important archaeological site. A stone castle was built there in the mid-13th century and was probably abandoned as early as the 14th century.

Zelená Hora was officially founded in 1763. Before that, woodcutters had built six houses in part of a cleared forest that Bishop Maxmilián, Count Hamilton, had donated. The history of the village also includes the forced resettlement of its inhabitants in 1941. They returned in 1945 after the Second World War.

During the interwar period, there were two windmills in Nad Bochtálem. After the municipality was resettled in 1941, they were gradually dismantled. Today, the area offers a beautiful view of the Haná landscape. Zelená Hora village square is also home to a sandstone cross dating from 1869.

The immediate surroundings of Zelená Hora include Úpalí Hill (VVP Dědice) and Vojenská [Drysice] Hill. Chlum Mountain is located near the village. In the wider regional area lies Předina Mountain.
