Heroltice: Hotels and Accommodation

The Pejškovský potok re-emerges at the surface near Heroltice at the place called Na bílé; most karst spaces in this area are, however, practically inaccessible. In 1999, the Heroltický potok was transformed with pools, wetlands and three ponds, creating a local biocentre.

Ten significant landscape elements (VKP) are registered in the cadastral area of Heroltice. They are of particular importance for the protection of biodiversity, including protected and endangered plant and animal species. The Na Bílém spring supplies Tišnov and Heroltice with water, emerges from the rock and does not freeze.

Various amphibian species and the pond mussel Škeble rybničná occur in the biocentre on the Heroltický potok. Birds that can be observed there include mallards, grey herons, reed warblers and kingfishers. Protected plants found in the cadastral area of Heroltice include Brambořík nachový, Hořeček brvitý and Okrotice bílá, an orchid. Rare animal species in Heroltice include fire salamanders, smooth snakes, praying mantises, kingfishers and red-backed shrikes.

The first mentions of Heroltice date back to 1316. At that time, the knight Herult (Herolt) of Heroltice settled on Horka Hill, where a fortress stood.

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, the patron saint of the village, was built in 1810. In 1907, the Municipality of Heroltice had a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk erected using a bequest from Tomáš Trtílek, who came from Heroltice. Another statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands on the village green in Heroltice. In a niche to the right of the chapel entrance is a white stone memorial plaque.

Every year, Heroltice hosts, among other events, a carnival, a festival welcoming spring, a church feast beneath the maypole, a children's summer cinema, a kite festival and a lantern procession.

In the vicinity of Heroltice is the stone-built Studánka U Sovy spring, with an owl statue in a niche; it was built in 2008. Near Šárka lies Ostrov, the former site of the Rudomlýn mill, also called Puchverk or Stoupa, which was used there from 1536 for crushing ore.

Near Pravková, in the vicinity of Heroltice, lies the almost 20-hectare Slunná primeval forest, consisting mainly of beech forest. A bench on the edge of Obceny Forest offers views towards Veverská Bítýška and Veveří Castle above it.

Čertova hráz is located in the vicinity of Heroltice; it is the remnant of a 32-metre-long stone dam in the valley of the Pejškovský potok. Further along the valley is a rest and refreshment area for pedestrians and cyclists.
