Horní Břečkov is located on the edge of Podyjí National Park and on the right bank of the Březinka stream. Podyjí National Park is characterised by a diverse landscape of rock amphitheatres, steep walls, meanders, extensive scree fields, hard-to-reach gorges, alluvial meadows along the Dyje and sunny forest steppes with diverse populations of warmth-loving plants.

Nature
On the Czech side, a viewpoint on the path to the border crossing offers a view of Hardegg and is situated above the more than 120-metre-high Hardegg Rocks. The Thayatal National Park cycling trail leads towards Horní Břečkov and turns right towards Lukov after one kilometre.
Culture
The Church of Saint Clement is considered one of the twelve oldest churches in South Moravia. It has a Romanesque core and is a longitudinal single-nave building with a four-sided tower on the west side.
In Čížov stands a Marian chapel dating from 1787. The Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows has a side façade framed by pilasters with three window axes. On the outskirts of Horní Břečkov there is also an unusually designed wayside shrine from the 19th century, which is a valuable element of the historic settlement and cultural landscape.
History
The Iron Curtain Memorial displays, over a symbolic length of 50 metres, an almost authentic replica of the second barrier line of the Iron Curtain from the late 1980s.
