Culture
Sutny is situated on a gentle rise north of a reservoir. The Sutny rondel from the culture with Moravian painted pottery consists of a ditch and several palisade ditches inside and outside the ditch. The site was continuously inhabited from the Neolithic to the Iron Age. Systematic archaeological research has been conducted at the multi-cultural Sutny site since 1964. Sutny is a significant archaeological site classified as UAN I.
The excavated areas of Těšetice-Kyjovice “Sutny”, together with the Těšetice “Vinohrady” area, form the largest known Hallstatt-period settlement complex. The Těšetice-Kyjovice rondel was the first comprehensively researched example of its kind in Central Europe. The first written mention of Kyjovice dates from 1275.
Several historical sites are also located in the wider regional surroundings of Kyjovice: Karlslust Castle is a castle, Rabštejn is a ruin, and Tempelštejn is a ruin. Weißes Kreuz is a shrine there.
