Culture and History

The Kostel sv. Maří Magdalény is a Baroque church built between 1699 and 1706 to a design by the Italian architect Domenico Martinelli. Services are regularly held in this church on Sundays at 7:30 a.m. The Kostel sv. Václava in the Rousínovec district was completed in 1734. The Kaple sv. Floriána was built in 1727–1728 in honour of Saint Florian as the protector of the town against fires.

The former synagogue in Rousínov, now used as the Sbor Cyrila a Metoděje of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church, was built in 1591 as a simple structure. The interior of the building can be visited during services.

The walk “Zákoutí židovské čtvrti v Rousínově” leads to places connected with Jewish life in Rousínov. According to the information boards, this walk also includes a newly created path along the wall of the Jewish cemetery. The cemetery is closed to the public for safety reasons; however, the gravestones can be seen from this path.

The Pomník orby císaře Josefa II. u Slavíkovic stands on the left side of a first-class road at the exit from Rousínov towards Brno. It commemorates an event from 1769 when Emperor Joseph II ploughed a furrow near Slavíkovice.

The bus station in Rousínov has eight stops: two for long-distance bus routes, four for regional bus routes and two for local bus routes. Since 19 December 2005, regular IDS JMK bus and train services have operated in the vicinity of Rousínov on routes 107, 602, 631, 730, 731 and 732.
