Sokolnice: Hotels and Accommodation

Sokolnice Château originally developed from a Renaissance fortress. Its last major renovations took place in the mid-19th century in the English Gothic Revival style. The château grounds include the Chapel of the Elevation of the Holy Cross, known as the eastern or Renaissance wing. It preserves wall paintings by the painter Josef Stern, which are still visible in their entirety today.

A chapel stands in the village square and is considered a Marian chapel because a statue of the Virgin Mary stands at the center of its altar; no formal consecration has been established. Historically, it was the site of religious services, Corpus Christi processions, and an annual pilgrimage mass.

Sokolnice lies in the flat Dyjsko-Svratecký Valley on the right bank of the Říčka, also known as the Zlatý potok. The landscape includes the Sokolnická pheasantry, a complex of floodplain and lowland forests, semi-natural meadows, and park-like areas.

The protected Žabárník area lies northwest of Sokolnice in the floodplain of the Dunávka. It provides a habitat for endangered birds, amphibians, and reptiles.

Sokolnice is a stop on the Battle of the Three Emperors educational trail. Along the trail are observation stations commemorating significant locations on the former battlefield. Another educational trail in the Sokolnice Game Preserve has six stations.

Cycle Route 5063 passes through Sokolnice on the Tuřany–Kobylnice–Sokolnice–Újezd u Brna route. Via Šlapanice, it connects the local cycling network with the cycle paths in the Ždánický les, the Slavkov Battlefield cycle-route system, and the Moravian Karst.

Traditional events in Sokolnice include the Jánské krojované hody festival, featuring a performance by Česká beseda. The program of Jánské hody 2025 included the ceremonial presentation of the festival rights in front of the Sokolovna building, as well as a procession through Sokolnice.

The Spolek přátel dobrého vína association in Sokolnice organizes wine tastings.
