Vracov: Hotels and accommodations

One notable historic building is the Church of St. Lawrence. It is a valuable historic monument of the early Gothic Cistercian-Burgundian type. A Renaissance tower was built on the north side of its chancel in 1565. The Stations of the Cross are located on the south side of the church. They were completed in 2004; the following year, a path was built there and plantings were added.

The town’s two small museums are also dedicated to different periods. Museum No. 1 presents life from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. Museum No. 2 in Vracov is furnished with items from the mid-20th century. Baráky Street is one of the oldest parts of Vracov; its origins date back to the 16th to 17th centuries.

Local traditions include the Vracovské hody with věncem a kačerem, which take place every year on the third weekend in October. Traditionally, around 500 people in traditional costumes take part. The harvest festival Dožínky is regularly held toward the end of August. The traditional costume of Vracov originated at the end of the 17th century.

The electrified narrow-gauge garden railway Železnice 600 in Vracov is 650 meters long. It transports the public and tourists. Three train sets with a total capacity of around 100 people are currently in operation.

The ascent through the Na jamech cellar lane continues behind Vracov into a stretch of terrain between fields and vineyards. For swimming and relaxing by the water, Koupaliště Vracov has a 50-by-20-meter main pool and a small children’s pool with a mushroom fountain and slide. The grounds include beach volleyball, table tennis, and a children’s playground, as well as changing rooms with lockable lockers, toilets, showers, and a snack bar.

Since 2003, a statue of Saint Hubert has stood in the Vracov Dúbrava Forest at a crossroads near a large lime tree. It depicts a deer and a hunting dog; there is a pavilion nearby for resting.

North of and above the town, a statue of Saint Urban stands on Zabiják Hill amid vineyards. A wooden pavilion next to the statue offers a place to rest and a beautiful view of Vracov. Today, 25 wine cellars can be visited in the Baráky district. One of the two small squares is home to a large wine press dating from 1840.
