Droužkovice: Hotels and Accommodation

Droužkovice combines an unusually vivid local history with events, cycling connections and distinctive local sights. The historical character is particularly evident in the Church of St. Nicholas: it was extensively rebuilt in the second half of the 15th century and at the beginning of the 16th century, and received a defensive floor above the chancel as well as a polygonal tower with loopholes that served as a bell tower. This made it the fortified centre of the village; part of the surviving surrounding wall is more than 120 centimetres wide.

Culture and History

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary is also part of the village’s appearance. It has a rectangular floor plan with a three-sided chancel. The chapel once housed a wooden Baroque Pietà from the mid-18th century.

The history of Droužkovice and its surroundings goes back a long way. The area around Droužkovice has been inhabited since the Neolithic period. Archaeological finds in the Droužkovice landscape document trade links with the ancient Mediterranean region. An exceptional find from the Early Iron Age was also discovered on the southern slope of Farářka Hill in Droužkovice.

Events in the Village

Masopust in Droužkovice includes a procession through the village, refreshments for visitors, a satirical performance, live music and a raffle. The folk and country music festival Fesťáček u vody has been held since 2000 at the local swimming area in Droužkovice.

A traditional witch-burning event with competitions, music and roasting sausages over a campfire was announced for 30 April 2025 at the swimming area in Droužkovice. At the 18th annual Droužkovické Vodní hrátky, teams compete against one another in various water sports disciplines.

Ponds and Cycling Connections

Local sights in Droužkovice include replicas of menhirs. Revitalised ponds are also among the local sights of Droužkovice.

The cycle route running through Droužkovice connects the route from Kadaň to Žatec with other cycle paths leading as far as Litoměřice. The public CykloDen ran along the cycle path connecting Spořice, Droužkovice and Březno, and included checkpoints with a stamp card in each municipality.
