Nature
Sluňáky has been designated a natural monument since 1966. The Sluňáky Natural Monument protects quartzite blocks with a typically weathered surface; it is one of the last occurrences of quartzite blocks. The Želinský Meander is a rocky meander in the canyon-like valley of the Ohře, where natural habitats can be found.
Buildings and history
Rokle Chateau is a Neoclassical building dating from the late 18th century and has been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 1958. The chateau houses an information centre operated by the municipality of Rokle, with refreshments available.
The Church of St Lawrence in Želina was built in the first third of the 13th century. It contains fragments of the Romanesque Church of St Gotthard from the first third of the 13th century, has been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 1958, and is considered the oldest Romanesque building in the Chomutov area.
The Želina Small Hydroelectric Power Station was commissioned at the beginning of the 20th century and is an industrial monument. It is located on the opposite bank of the Ohře and is recommended as a noteworthy excursion destination.
Paths
The Church of St Lawrence in Želina can be reached on foot from the Maxipsa Fíka riverside trail in approximately 40 minutes: After crossing the river at the bridge near Špitálské předměstí, the route continues along the Ohře River on a green-marked hiking trail.
