Lišany combines evidence of the town’s history with its classification within the landscape district of the Ohře Valley.

Culture and history

On the village green in Lišany stand the Chapel of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Column of Jesus Christ. The protected monument complex of the chapel comprises the chapel and the associated grounds. The building is a plastered, masonry structure on a square floor plan with rounded corners.

The oldest surviving written record of Lišany dates from 1351; that year, Pešek Čach founded a vineyard on a slope above his farmstead. In 1602, the fortress of Lišany is recorded as newly built. In 1872, a train passed through Lišany for the first time.

Landscape

Within the landscape framework of Lišany, the Ohře area (CZ 0423510) is designated as a European Natura 2000 site.

The ruins of Pravda, as well as the Raná and Oblík mountains, are located in the vicinity of Lišany. In the wider regional surroundings of Lišany are the Srdov and Brník mountains, the ruins of Oltářík Castle, the Hrádek ruins, and the Svatý Prokop monument.

Routes

From Lišany u Žatce station, the footpath leads approximately 2 km towards Hradiště and then 1 km from Hradiště towards Žatec to Stekník Château.

The Stezky chmele cycle route runs in the Žatec–Stekník–Lišany sequence.
