Kryry: Hotels and accommodations

Kryry is characterized by several historic sites: the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, the Schillerova rozhledna, Kryry Castle, and the Kryřížová cesta Kryry Stations of the Cross. The surrounding area, both nearby and farther afield, also contains named hills, mountains, and cultural monuments.

Culture

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Kryry is originally a Gothic church dating from 1400–1418. It was given its present form in 1722 and further modified in 1780 and during the 19th century. It stands on a slight rise below the castle hill, next to a disused cemetery, and has a square west tower and a vaulted interior.

The Schillerova rozhledna was built in 1905–1906 on the site of the former Kozihrady Castle. Its viewing platforms are located at heights of 22 and 27 meters. Currently, the tower is open to the public on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays during the spring, summer, and autumn months.

Kryry Castle, also called Kozí Hrady, belonged from 1320 to 1348 to Albrecht of Kryry from the House of Rvenice. From 1374, it was an appurtenance of Petrohrad Castle, owned by the Lords of Janovice, and had disappeared by the 15th century at the latest.

Routes

The Křížová cesta Kryry Stations of the Cross is approximately 840 meters long and was established in 1764.

On April 25, 2026, the town of Kryry and the Kryry Health Club organized the Havraní stopa tourist march. It was held in Kryry as the 30th edition of a walking event through the surrounding area; the route led along forest paths and past the Schillerova rozhledna. Registration began at 9:00 a.m., and the start was at 9:30 a.m.

Geographical setting

In the vicinity of Kryry are the Šibeník [Kryry] hill and the (V Lomech) [Očihov] hill. The surrounding area contains the Svatý Prokop monument, the Zřícenina Lina ruins, and Prokopi Berg mountain.

In the wider regional surroundings of Kryry are the Zřícenina Pravda ruins, Vladař mountain, and the U Svatého Gotharda Church.
