Libochovice Chateau combines Early Baroque architecture with a French garden and a landscape park: it was built between 1683 and 1690 in the Early Baroque style by the Italian architect Antonio della Porta. On January 1, 2002, it was declared a national cultural monument.

Culture

Immediately next to the chateau stands the present-day Baroque Church of All Saints. It was built between 1700 and 1705 on the site of an older Gothic church that had been destroyed by fire. Its ceiling painting, known as the “Bohemian Sky,” depicts Bohemian saints. The church also has a lapidarium of Baroque sculptures, most of which were created by Bartoloměj Ederer.

Libochovické divadelní léto is an amateur theater competition that has been held continuously since 1958. The Jewish cemetery in Libochovice is protected as a cultural monument. The Svatovařinecká pouť takes place annually in mid-August and includes fairground attractions, market stalls, and accompanying events in the town square and the adjacent town park.
