Bohušovice nad Ohří is situated in a landscape shaped by the Ohře River and offers views of the České středohoří Mountains.

Culture

The Church of St. Prokop and St. Nicholas was built in 1716 by Josef Míka, provost of Doksany, on the site of an older predecessor building. It contains a rare late Baroque organ from the second half of the 18th century and has been a cultural monument since 1958.

Below the railway embankment near a viaduct stands the Chapel of St. Anne, which bears the year 1875. Inside are three altar mensae with niches containing images of a guardian angel and the Holy Family.

In the center of Bohušovice nad Ohří stands the Art Nouveau monument created in 1911 by sculptor Ladislav Beneš. The Jan Hus Monument consists of an over-life-size walking sandstone figure on a natural obelisk and is flanked by two toppled ancient columns. The Baroque sculptural group Sousoší sv. Benedikta has a three-part pedestal with relief decoration and an inscription; it depicts Saint Benedict, angels with a mitre, and a raven with bread.

History

The historic site “Theresienstadt concentration camp and ghetto” is located in the vicinity of Bohušovice nad Ohří. The ruins of Hazmburk are also nearby; in the wider regional area are Hrad Střekov Castle and the ruins of Hrádek.

The Hospodářský dvůr complex was rebuilt or completely reconstructed in 1746–1747 and extensively remodeled after a fire in 1824.

The mountains Hradiště u Hlinné, Hořidla, Lovoš, and Sovice are located in the vicinity of Bohušovice nad Ohří.

Bohušovice n.Ohří railway station has a public parking garage and a nearby scheduled bus stop. The station building or waiting area, as well as at least one platform, is accessible without barriers.
