Píšťany: Hotels and accommodations

Píšťanské Lake, also called Žernosecké Lake, is located between Velké Žernoseky, Píšťany, and Žalhostice on the right bank of the Labe below the basalt hill Radobýl.

Nature and history

Píšťanské Lake is an artificially created quarry lake. In the 1950s and 1960s, it was formed by water from the Labe flowing into and flooding a former gravel and sand quarry. The water is clear, and the relatively high sandy shores resemble a seaside beach.

The origins of Píšťany date back to the 11th century. In the past, high-quality sand was intensively extracted in large quantities in Píšťany.

By the shore

Marina Labe is located on the shore of Píšťanské Lake. It has a restaurant where you can sit with a view of Žernosecké Lake.

Cycle paths and ferry

Cycle Route No. 2, the Elbe Trail, reaches Píšťany after a few kilometres. The cycling tour “By bike to Píšťanské Lake and to Oparenské Valley” is approximately 25 km long and is practically completely flat. This cycling tour is also suitable for less experienced cyclists and families with children.

The ferry between Lovosice and Píšťany can be used to reach Píšťanské Lake. Ferry service between Lovosice and Píšťany was scheduled to begin on 19 June 2026. For the return journey from Oparenské Valley to the Elbe Trail, the ferry can be used on the route between Lovosice, Park Osmička, and Píšťany.
