Místo: Hotels and Accommodation

Místo was founded in the mid-16th century, when additional mines were opened around Hasištejn, and developed into a mining town.

History and Sacred Buildings

The first historical mention of the mining town of Místo dates from 1569. Later, the town became the centre of guilds serving the surrounding villages, including cloth makers, tailors, masons, stonemasons, carpenters, wheelwrights and coopers.

At the southeastern edge of Místo stands the Baroque Church of the Holy Trinity, built in 1691–1692. It has a single-nave layout with a rectangular nave and a separate, almost rectangular presbytery. The sculptural decoration of the main altar comes from the workshop of the sculptor and woodcarver Jakub Eberle.

Other religious monuments include a Baroque Trinity column from 1724 and a wayside shrine from the early 16th century on the road to Vysoká Jedle. Místo is also home to a crucifix on a Corinthian column with reliefs of the Virgin Mary, Saint Sebastian, Saint Rosalia and Saint Roch. It dates from before 1800 and was moved here from Kralupy.

In the Vysoká Jedle district of Místo, the Chapel of the Virgin Mary has been restored; it is regularly used for services. Smaller religious monuments in Místo were moved here from villages destroyed by lignite mining at the Nástup mine.

Nature

The Místo planning area includes Prunéřovské údolí Nature Park, which contains the Kokrháč Natural Monument. The Místo planning area also includes the Kokrháč–Hasištejn Natura 2000 site, number 5475.

Hiking and Cycling

The hike “From the birch groves across the rocks and waterfalls to Hasištejn” begins in Vysoká Jedle, where you can visit the Chapel of the Virgin Mary. Hasištejn is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00 from 1 June to 30 September.

The Prunéřov–Černovice cycling route project includes Místo and is intended to connect directly to the existing Ohře Cycle Route. A low-traffic transport and mobility connection is planned for cyclists, families with children and tourists.
