Domašín: Hotels and Accommodation

Domašín lies on a slope of the Ore Mountains at an average elevation of about 560 metres. The village combines a Late Baroque chapel, a history documented in writing as far back as 1431, and natural monuments with mineralogical features.

Culture and History

The chapel in Domašín, dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk, was built in 1748 in the Late Baroque style. Its exterior was renovated and fitted with a bell in 2024. In 2025, the interior was renovated, particularly the flooring; a historic church pew was also restored. The first written mention of Domašín dates from 1431.

The historic rural landscape of Domašín consisted of hilly rye fields, a few meadows and extensive pastureland. The historic mining of amethysts and agates is also located on Holubí vrch in the area between Ciboušov, Louchov and Domašín.

Nature and Landscape

The Doupňák National Nature Monument lies between Domašín and Klášterec nad Ohří on Holubí vrch. It protects a mineralogical deposit containing quartz varieties, including amethyst and jasper.

The path to the Podmilesy Nature Monument leads from the site of the former settlement past a former mill to a pond on the Podmileský stream and is suitable for cycling and hiking.

Planina Mountain is located in the vicinity of Domašín. The mountains of Mravenčák, Šumná and Tok are located in the surrounding area.

The Schlackenwerth Monastery is located in the vicinity of Domašín. The Church of the Redeemer in Bärenstein is situated in the surrounding area. Further afield in the region are the former Franciscan monastery in Annaberg-Buchholz and the Church of the Assumption in Cranzahl.
