Pohořice brings together several historical layers: local history, memorials, and traces of historic transport routes.

History

Pohořice were first mentioned in 1340 as the property of the Augustinian monastery in Roudnice nad Labem. Pohořice are also considered to be of older origin than Martiněves. In the past, Pohořice were also called Podhořice.

Historic Routes

The historic Formanská magistrála ran through Pohořice. Its route led from Prague via Pohořice onward to Dresden, Leipzig, and Berlin.

A former inn, house number 37, dating from the time of the Formanská magistrála has been preserved in Pohořice. Next to the former inn is an approximately 1.5 m high remnant of a stone milestone. Another stone milestone stands approximately 1.5 km north of Pohořice. The historic Stará formanská magistrála runs along the edge of Pohořice.

Memorial Culture

On the village square of Pohořice in Martiněves stands a war memorial to those who fell from Martiněves, Pohořice, and Charvatce in the First World War of 1914–1918. The Pohořice war memorial was unveiled on September 7, 1924. It is a four-sided granite monument; the names of the fallen are engraved on three sides.

Geographical Location

The Vidrholec, Boušov, and Sovice mountains are located in the vicinity of Pohořice. Hazmburk, a ruin site, and the Church of Svatý Jiří are also located in the vicinity.
