Úpohlavy is located in the Český středohoří landscape. Házmburk, a castle ruin on a 418 m-high volcanic cone, is situated near Úpohlavy. Házmburk offers views of the Český středohoří, the Polabí region and the Poohří region.

Walking paths and hiking trails

Úpohlavy is presented as a starting point for walks and hikes. The red-marked Zlatá stezka Zemí hradů hiking trail runs through the southwestern part of Úpohlavy. From Úpohlavy, an approximately 4–5 km route leads to Házmburk and can be covered on foot or by bicycle. Košťálov is approximately 6 km from Úpohlavy on foot or by bicycle. The ascent to Košťálov is described as moderately difficult; the final section is steeper.

From Úpohlavy, an approximately 2 km route leads to Lucký mlýn. The trip to Lucký mlýn is described as an easy walk. The municipality of Úpohlavy also recommends an approximately 30 km circular route via Úpohlavy, Házmburk, Třebenice, Košťálov, Chodovlice and Lucký mlýn back to Úpohlavy. Úpohlavy has a railway stop in the northern part of the municipality.

Cycling routes

The Lovosice–Házmburk–Lovosice cycling route passes through Úpohlavy. It is approximately 50 km long and moderately difficult. Cycling route 3118 passes through Úpohlavy between Sulejovice and Třebenice. In the Český granát area, cycling route 3118 runs from Lovosice via Sulejovice and Úpohlavy to Třebenice.

Cycling routes 3119 and 3118 follow a regional return route via Lkáň, Třebenice, Úpohlavy and Sulejovice to Lovosice.

Landscape and geology

The southern slopes of Košťálov Hill are protected as a natural monument. The Úpohlavy quarry is designated as a geotourism attraction or geotope and as an excursion site. The Úpohlavy quarry is significant because of its paleontological discoveries from the Upper Cretaceous.

Access to the Úpohlavy quarry is possible only with special permission, as the site includes a military area, a quarry and private properties.

Culture

Lucký mlýn is located between the municipalities of Chodovlice and Úpohlavy. Lucký mlýn is a former water mill whose Baroque building preserves technical equipment dating mostly from the early 20th century.

The Chapel of the Holy Trinity in Úpohlavy is a late Baroque immovable cultural heritage site of the Czech Republic, protected since 1958 and designated as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The triangular gable of the Chapel of the Holy Trinity transitions directly into a bell tower.
