Těchlovice: Hotels and accommodations

Těchlovice is located in the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area. The natural environment and local history are manifested here in several clearly identifiable forms.

Architectural heritage

The Church of St John the Baptist in Těchlovice, together with an enclosing wall with two gates and a mortuary, forms a complex. The Church of the Beheading of St John the Baptist is a single-nave building with an east-facing presbytery and a prismatic tower at the southwestern corner of the nave. In the wider area, it is considered a significant landmark.

History

Archaeological finds also anchor Těchlovice in a distant past: the Těchlovice Treasure is estimated to be 4,000 years old and was discovered in 1881 during the construction of the railway station building. At Přední Lhota, a burial site from the Lusatian culture was found on the slope leading to Vrabinec.

The development of Těchlovice was connected with the heyday of steam navigation on the Elbe, the establishment of a shipyard, fruit exports, and the construction of the Austrian Northwest Railway.

Nature

At the Vrabinec site, the remains of an old castle lie among several volcanic vents. The specially protected Vrabinec area encompasses heat-loving plant and animal communities on rocks, scree slopes, and scree forests around an exposed basalt neck with the remains of a medieval castle ruin.

Getting around

A 25-kilometre section of the Labská cyklostezka between Ústí nad Labem and Děčín passes through Těchlovice. The section runs on asphalt and concrete paving. Těchlovice can be reached from Děčín and Ústí nad Labem by train, as well as by DÚK bus route 450.

To the main travel overview: Děčín District.
