Srbská Kamenice: Hotels and accommodations

Srbská Kamenice lies in the valley of the Kamenice River. The Arba nature reserve is a large meadow in the valley along the Kamenice River. Plants and animals associated with meadows and spring areas are protected there; Arba is one of the most important wetlands in the region.

Nature

Srbská Kamenice is a starting point for visits to České Švýcarsko National Park and the Labské pískovce, České středohoří and Lužické hory protected landscape areas.

Getting there

Srbská Kamenice can be reached by bus from Děčín and Česká Kamenice, and by train from Veselé pod Rabštejnem railway station.

History and culture

The present-day Church of Saint Wenceslas in Srbská Kamenice was built between 1772 and 1776; the foundation stone was laid on 15 July 1772. The church houses a valuable Rococo altar.

Carved into the rock face beside the road below the church in Srbská Kamenice is a relief of the Coronation of the Virgin Mary dating from 1701. Traditional Upper Lusatian half-timbered houses document the original development of Srbská Kamenice.

Since 1995, music festivals with an extensive programme have been held in Srbská Kamenice in August and September.

Historical traces and trails

Dolský mlýn was first mentioned in writing in 1515. Dolský mlýn became a popular destination for excursions, especially after boat traffic began in 1881 in the gorge between Srbská Kamenice and Dolský mlýn.

Today, Dolský mlýn can be reached from Srbská Kamenice via a green-marked hiking trail; depending on your fitness level, there are several options for returning to the village.

In 1937–1938, a line of light fortifications was built in Srbská Kamenice to defend the republic against Nazi Germany. It comprises numerous reinforced-concrete bunkers popularly known as “Řopíky”. The line of fortifications can be reached from the U Ferdinanda bus stop in Srbská Kamenice via a blue-marked hiking trail.

At the Museum of North Bohemian Fortifications in Srbská Kamenice, visitors can learn about the construction of the fortifications and the equipment of the bunkers; examples of the Czechoslovak Army’s weaponry are also on display there.
