Vlastislav: Hotels and Accommodation

Vlastislav lies on the Modla stream; the tower of Skalka Castle rises above the town on a small basalt outcrop. Zámek Skalka can be visited via a separate entrance at the round tower on the rock above the chateau; the first and second floors are accessible. They house permanent exhibitions on the history of Vlastislav, beekeeping, historic prams, aircraft models, and fairy tales.

Culture and History

The Gothic Skalka Castle dates from the 14th century and was severely damaged during the Thirty Years’ War. The keep is the only surviving part of Skalka Castle and is protected as a cultural monument.

The Vlastislav hillfort was already settled in the second half of the 9th century; the fortified area was established in the following century. At the hillfort, the greatest concentration of dwellings and other finds was in the outer bailey area rather than on the acropolis. Near Vlastislav – Na Šancích there is also a spur-site locality with remains of an early medieval hillfort dating from the 9th century.

From the viewpoint below the Skalka tower, there are views of Košťálov, Oltářík, the surrounding hills of the Central Bohemian Uplands, and Milešovka.

Events

Summer festivals were held in Vlastislav on August 30, 2025, and August 15, 2026, in the courtyard of the municipal office. Events for burning the witches were held in the courtyard of Zámek Skalka in Vlastislav on April 30, 2024, and April 30, 2025.

Routes and Bus Connection

The international tourist route Zlatá stezka zemí hradů runs along the road between Vlastislav and Sutom; from there, a branch leads toward the chateau and the ruins of Skalka Castle. A direct bus connection from Lovosice on route 662 operates on weekdays and Sundays.
