Prosetín: Hotels and Accommodation

Prosetín combines a long local history with remarkable sacred buildings, natural monuments and signposted trails. The complex of St. Margaret’s Church includes a free-standing brick bell tower. Three bells hang inside it: one from 1534 and two from 1925.

Culture and History

The first mention of Prosetín comes from medieval sources and dates back to 1390. An evangelical church from the second half of the 18th century stands in the northern part of the village; the local cemetery is directly adjacent to it. The evangelical toleration prayer house was built in 1782 according to the provisions of the Patent of Toleration issued by Joseph II and is considered the oldest toleration prayer house in Moravia and the Czech Republic. The Catholic Church of St. Margaret replaced a wooden predecessor in 1738.

The Prosetín Oak is also closely connected with the local history. The oak has stood for several centuries and played an important role in the construction of the local evangelical church. During the Second World War, it served as a starting point for a local partisan group. The group hid in the vicinity of the evangelical church and had concealed a radio there.

On the grounds of the former limeworks in Prosetín, the chimney, the kiln and the concrete foundations of the former wooden bridge have been preserved.

Natural Environment

Prosetín lies in the Svratecká hornatina Nature Park and in an ascending valley at an elevation of 540 to 590 metres above sea level. The village includes the Kocoury Natural Monument, an important natural feature in Prosetín. It consists of a small strip of woodland with warmth-loving vegetation on limestone bedrock, where the endangered snowdrop anemone occurs.

The Kocoury Natural Monument is also home to grass-rich plant communities with species of plant-geographical importance. A population of the specially protected snowdrop anemone (Anemone sylvestris) occurs there.

Trails and Routes

Part of the Štěpánovský čtyřlístek educational trail runs through Prosetín. A section of cycle route 5087 also runs through the northern part of the village. Cycle route 5086 leads through the eastern part of Prosetín and runs from Starý Svojanov to Nedvědice. On the outskirts of the village, a hiking route branches onto the yellow-marked trail towards Olešnice.
